I have to start this post by saying a huge thank you to my former college colleague turned wedding photographer Patricia de Carvalho (check out her amazing work - https://www.patriciadecarvalho.com) who was kind enough to let me follow her around and take photos of this amazing wedding and also to Natalia and Ross, the beautiful couple pictured below.
A Dreamy Destination Wedding at Quinta do Torneiro, Lisbon
There’s something magical about photographing a wedding in Portugal — the light, the architecture, the food, and of course, the joy of couples choosing this stunning country for their destination wedding.
Recently, I had the privilege of capturing an unforgettable celebration at Quinta do Torneiro, a historic estate just outside Lisbon.
From the intimate preparations in the afternoon to a lively Scottish dance floor late into the night, every moment reflected both elegance and personality.
Preparations – Groom, Groomsmen & Meaningful Details
The afternoon began with the groom and his groomsmen getting ready.
Between buttoning jackets, adjusting ties, and sharing a few glasses of whiskey, I focused on capturing the small details — cufflinks, shoes, handwritten vows — the pieces that help tell a bigger story. These quiet moments before the ceremony are always some of my favorites to photograph.
The Bride - A Suite Full of Laughter and Anticipation
Meanwhile, the bride and her bridesmaids filled the bridal suite with laughter and excitement. I photographed her delicate details before documenting the emotional moment her bridesmaids saw her ready for the first time. The atmosphere was warm, full of energy and happy tears.
A Romantic Ceremony at Quinta do Torneiro
The ceremony took place indoors in the beautiful Quinta do Torneiro's chapel, where historic charm meets timeless romance. Surrounded by friends and family who had flown in from around the world, the couple exchanged vows in an emotional ceremony that felt both intimate and grand.
Couple Portraits in Lisbon's Golden Light
After the ceremony, we took some time to explore the estate for couple portraits. Quinta do Torneiro offers endless opportunities for wedding photography — from its façade to its gardens and classic tiled interiors. The golden Lisbon light added a touch of magic as we created timeless images for the newlyweds to treasure.
Cocktail Hour, Speeches & a Joyful Dinner
Guests enjoyed a relaxed cocktail hour in the courtyard before heading into a beautifully decorated dining space for dinner. Throughout the evening, heartfelt speeches brought both laughter and happy tears — from the best man, the bride’s sister, the bride and groom themselves, and the groom’s father. These moments are always such a joy to photograph because they reveal genuine emotion and connection.
Cake, Dancing & Scottish Traditions
The evening concluded with a delicious wedding cake followed by a lively dance floor. Since the groom is Scottish, several traditional dances added a fun and personal touch to the night. Watching guests from around the world join in and celebrate together was the perfect ending to a truly memorable wedding day.
